I'm happy to announce that I'll be making my Arena Stage debut in THE PAJAMA GAME this autumn!
"The Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory is a tiptop model of efficiency — so why are things getting so steamy? It could have something to do with how hard new superintendent Sid Sorokin has fallen for Babe Williams, the trouble-making head of the union grievance committee. Sparks really start to fly when a workers’ strike pits management against labor and ignites an outrageous battle of the sexes. Packed with seductive dance numbers like “Steam Heat” and “Hernando’s Hideaway,” the best way to ensure a good night’s rest during the hectic holiday season is to play The Pajama Game!"
This August/September I will be working with the marketing team at Woolly Mammoth as their Multi-Media Specialist, building video and photographic content for their production of THE ARSONISTS!
The Washington Post:
The movement and installations enhance this distinctive story’s unnerving drama. But “Still Life” also gets terrific mileage from its cast, especially Gunderson and his masterful depiction of the belligerent Caleb. - Celia Wren (full review)
DC Theatre Scene:
Every performer is committed to the truth of his character throughout, but here are two performances which stand out even against this glittering cast. Some actors bring sunshine and thunder to their roles, but Ben Gunderson brings an entire weather system. Caleb is, at once, a man inclined to trouble as the sparks are bound upward; a man profoundly troubled by and sorry for his past; a man who loves his family; a man who hates his family; a man governed by impulse and a man who is shamed by his every impulse. Gunderson gets every bit of his character, and gives it back to us... - Tim Treanor (full review)
It's a very strong cast from top to bottom, who might have already gone through a lot together before the first audience was ever led through the maze. Especially good is Gunderson as the intense Caleb, and Spencer as the tough foster sister. - Roger Catlin (full review)
DC Metro Theater Arts:
Ben Gunderson as Caleb embodies the role of the insensitive interloper shifting the tables around, beginning an excellent dance with his four siblings that drive the tables much harder than any bargain. - Jane Franklin (full review)
I signed with the good folks over at Capital Talent Agency! Here's to a fabulous first year in DC. x
After 8 years in and out of NYC, I've relocated to Washington, DC. Stay tuned for further updates!
